As a survivor of parasites and candida overgrowth, I am always on the lookout for ways to help heal my intestinal tract. It is becoming more and more understood the important role that gut health plays in immunity, overall health, and even mental health – and unfortunately so much of what we are exposed to everyday (from toxins in our food and environment, to excessive stress) can damage this important system.
Cabbage juice is an easy and natural way to reduce inflammation in the gut, and has even been found to help heal chronic GI issues such as ulcers, Chron’s and colitis, and may help to repair the compromised tissues that contribute to “Leaky Gut” or ammonia permeability. Since adding it to my regimen, I have noticed a substantial improvement in my digestive process, less gastric upset, less bloating, and better regularity.
This recipe is an easy and delicious way to add raw cabbage to your life – the sweetness of the apple and the lime really balance out the flavor of the cabbage (even my 5 year old likes this recipe). Prep Time: 5 minutes
½ large purple cabbage, outer leaves removed, cut into fourths and cored
1 green apple, washed and cored
1 lime, ends cut off but peel left on
Run all ingredients through the feed tube of your juicer*. Enjoy immediately.
